It has been flooding a great deal in the Willamette Valley this past week due to a great deal of rain. Most of the flooding is in the lower areas – within flood plains — where one would expect. The rivers and creeks have now crested and are slowly going down.
In My Little Organic Garden the water table is about 2 inches above ground level. In some places standing water was 6 inches or more deep. It did not affect the garden boxes however which are all a minimum of 8 inches deep. This is another blessing of raised beds in flat high clay soils like I have.
OK, back to planning next year’s garden…
